If you're running Windows and want to set a Po Buckra Productions wallpaper that's actually alive — not a static image, but a moving, breathing scene — this is for you. Lively Wallpaper is a free, open-source tool that lets animated wallpapers run on your desktop without any bloatware, subscriptions, or nonsense.

What Is Lively Wallpaper?

Lively Wallpaper is a free and open-source Windows application that lets you set animated videos, WebGL scenes, shaders, and interactive applications as your desktop wallpaper. It's lightweight, community-built, and doesn't require a paid subscription.

Step 1: Install Lively Wallpaper

  1. Visit the Lively Wallpaper GitHub page or search "Lively Wallpaper" in the Microsoft Store (it's free).

  2. Download the installer (.exe) from GitHub Releases or install directly from the Microsoft Store.

  3. Run the installer and follow the setup prompts. Lively will open automatically when finished.

  4. On first launch, Lively will ask you to choose a wallpaper directory. Pick anywhere convenient — this is where your wallpapers will live.

Step 2: Download the Po Buckra Wallpaper

The Po Buckra Productions animated wallpaper is available for free. It features a Low Country animated scene with selectable background options — swap between different moods and looks from within Lively's Customize panel.

Step 3: Load It in Lively

  1. Open Lively Wallpaper. In the main window, click the "+" button or drag the downloaded wallpaper file directly into the Lively window.

  2. Lively will import and preview the wallpaper. Click "Set as Wallpaper" to apply it to your desktop.

  3. To switch background options: right-click the wallpaper thumbnail in Lively and select "Customize" — you'll see the available background presets.

  4. Lively runs in the system tray and automatically pauses during fullscreen apps or games.

Background Options

The wallpaper ships with multiple selectable backgrounds you can swap between in Lively's Customize panel. Each carries a different Low Country mood — from a blue-hour cypress swamp to a gold-hour live oak clearing. The default background features the Po Buckra Productions logo mark.

Tips & Troubleshooting

  • Windows only: Lively currently runs on Windows 10 and Windows 11.

  • Multiple monitors: Lively supports different wallpapers per monitor — great for a multi-screen setup.

  • Performance: In Lively Settings → Performance, set "When playing a game" to Pause or Kill to free up GPU resources on older machines.

  • Wallpaper not showing? Make sure Lively is running in the system tray and your desktop isn't in "Show desktop" mode (Win+D toggles this).
